This piece is titled Dance: A Universal Language. This is probably one of my favorite pieces from my senior year art show because to me personally it showed a lot of improvement in my artwork in comparison to whenI first started that year. the background of the piece is the word dance in 15+ languages including Spanish, Chinese, French, English, Japanese, etc. My concentration for my AP Studio Art was dancers and most of the time I would be doing a full figure drawing and I wanted to try to switch up my interpretation of m theme. I decided to just focus on the legs of the dancers in great detail rather than do a piece with the full figure but more generalized. I wanted to incorporate my interests into this piece and I love to learn languages. I have learned two foreign languages and I want to learn more in the future. This is the end product of combining three interests of mine: dance, art and languages.

Photography China April 2016
Last April I saved up a large amount of money for me to go on my school's international trip to China. I brought my camera with me so I could remember my experience for the future when I wanted to look at all my memories of High school. I started taking Chinese language classes my sophomore year and I loved it. I loved my teacher, the students in the class and everyone's motivation to learn. So I never ended up posting my pictures because of the internet in China but I want to show all of the pieces I really loved from the 11 day trip.
Hunan, China
Rural Farm Visit
This picture was taken on a rural farm in Hunan, China. The People who owned the farm were really nice and let us see their crops and look inside their home.
At the farm there was also a small pond where they could also catch fish
These are some onion plants planted in rows around the farm.
On the farm there were two dogs that the family owned

Zhangjiajie, Hunan
Zhangjiajie was a really beautiful place to visit. It was outside of the city so it was not full of tall buildings. This was more of a scenic place to visit with amazing views. Also, Zhangjiajie was what inspired the landscaping in the movie Avatar.
Fenghuang, China
This Image is from the town of of Fenghuang. Also known as the Phoenix City which is a really old and full of beautiful views and traditional housing.
At night time the whole city would light up and all the bridges were lined with colorful lights.
Lanterns were hung by the river front of buildings and there were boats going up and down the river
Here are some pictures of locals in Fenghuang and Beijing
Night Life in Fenghuang
In Fenghuang there were many ways to cross the river. You could use one of the many bridges to cross or you could use stepping stones to cross over. At night I decided I would try to use the stepping stones to cross and it looked like I was walking on water and here is a picture of the stones.
Shanghai, China
In Shanghai I first did not know what to expect. On my 11 day trip this was the last stop. We already saw so many different landscapes and views. When I arrived I was so surprised because everyone was so friendly and it was very different than Beijing. I think Shanghai was very nice and the community was very welcoming. I ended up having many conversations with locals and they were very nice and wanted to know about life in the USA.

This is my third concentration piece for my AP Studio art class so far. It is two dancers drawn in black and white charcoal pencil. Fun fact: look for a hidden giraffe within the woodgrain of the background!!

Part 1 First Concentration Piece
Here is part of one of my concentration pieces focusing on dancers in their element. I decided to choose this concentration idea because of the unique positions and shapes dancers can make with their bodies. I am also not good at figure drawing so I wanted to challange myself to take on that challange and practice as much as possible to try to improve my work as an art student.
This piece was to represent aerial dance with silk. The other half of this dyptic piece is a classical pointe dancer drawn with more cool tones also created in oil pastel.
