Test Glaze Pieces

Final Vase for MakeLab

My final project for MakeLAb was to create a vase that is inspired by the previous vessels we made in class. My last piece was inspired by nature with ceramic feathers, leaves and waves.

"Out of the Hat" Piece

For this project we were supposed to make a paper hat and from our own imagination create a ceramics piece of what we would think would have come out of the hat. My idea was to create something inspired by mature because why had looked like there was grass growing inside it and there was a decorative bird cage pattern around it. For my ceramic piece I handmade ceramic feathers and leaves to flow around a shape getting smaller at the top. I was also required a height requirement so I decided to make two pieces that came together as one and the bottom piece was inspired by water ands waves. The top of my hat was curly looking like water so I tried to incorporate as much from the hat as possible. After the first firing, I realized that there was an issue with the kiln and my glazes did not work properly and I ended up painting my piece with acrylic paint so it was not a rusted clack color.

Photographic Self Portrait: Final

For the class FuseLab, our final project was to paint a large backdrop and abstract a place that has a lot of meaning to us and take a photographic self portrait that represents you. I decided to inspire my backdrop on the Miller Performing Arts Center and the arts in general. I wanted to incorporate dance into my final project and create a composition that was not the same as everyone else's portraits. My idea was to not show my face because in our class we were playing around with that defines a selfie or a picture of yourself. I decided to show my feet and legs that interact with the piece. With my backdrop I wanted to try to show as much of my knowledge of color theory as possible as well as figure out a way that I am best representing myself. I decided to make my backdrop very geometric because I feel like there are a lot of different sides to me like a kaleidoscope and I used colors to make my backdrop look almost like an optical illusion. I was really happy with the end product because I think it represented me as a person because I wanted to show my creativity as a student and how I can apply that to my craft.

mashup

A small mashup of the three songs that I choose for the photos

Audio Tour Experience

Sound Recording:

I think that the derive was very interesting because it made you think about surroundings and it made me feel very peaceful. I was sick that day so I was not feeling good at all but the audio tour calmed me down a little bit. I taken to some really cool places in ways that I didn't know was possible so I think it gave me a different perspective on how I think in comparison to how others exist in the world.
