School Murals

At my high school I was a member of the National Art Honor Society and I had the opportunity to hold fundraisers and create murals around my school. At my time in the Art NAH I created two murals to promote school spirit and to have art outside the art room.

Mural One:

The first mural that I created was with the intention to promote the new school crest because we modified our school's mascot. There are stairs with motivational words to symbolize the tools we need to become good students that build up to students moving on to higher education. It also represents what it means to be a Conard Chieftain. The mural was made in our school colors to promote school spirit.

Mural Two:

This mural was done on a smaller scale than the mural above. The school installed fire sprinklers in place of having fire estinguishers around the school. Around the school there were now many empty spots where fire extinguishers were placed but the National Honors Society decided to paint the empty spaces and make them "Mystery Spaces." The concept of these mystery spaces was to bring art outside the art room and have art be present all around the school. My piece was of a city scene and all the windows glowing at night time. I was also an active member in the music department in my high Schoo land we sang this one song about finding your place in the city and I wanted to incorporate that in my mini mural because my location was right in front of the music rooms.

Unleashing The Beast

In this concentration piece I wanted to focus on improving on my figure drawing skills. So far into the year I mainly drew female dancers and I wanted to show some variety in my work so I decided to paint a male dancer and challenge myself as an artist. In this piece I used cake water color as my medium. I also really enjoy drawing and painting animals so I wanted to incorporate that interest into my artwork. I decided to paint a tiger to symbolize a dancer letting go and putting their emotions into their craft. I wanted to portray a dancer going back to their most basic instincts. It relates to a dancers raw talent and letting go in their dancing.
